It was hard to tell why he loved places like that but on the other hand… Maybe that was in his nature? The club he picked this time was crowded but not loud; calm, jazz music coming from the speakers, filling the room alongside with gray smoke. You grimaced. Looking at people that took their time slowly inhaling cigarettes reminded you of how little you understood them. For someone in your position habits like smoking or drinking were hardly appealing. But he liked them, he felt more alive or at least he told you so.
“Are you always on time?” Question was made right behind you.
You didn’t have to turn back, just a little smile appeared on your face, as you slowly nodded.
“It wouldn’t hurt you to come late once, dear.” He continued and you could easily imagine long glass in his hand and him sipping red drink from it.
Bloody mary. His favourite.
Or at least on of many. He told you, that he had knew the person the drink took name after.
“Oh, and she was bloody. Not per se, but… The people misled by their own faith are always the biggest entertainment.”
“And being punctual wouldn’t hurt you, Arthur.” You responded. It was funny to play this little game of his. Using such a common name, even though you both knew it’s just a farce.
“You know how it is, luv.” The English accent he had chosen to use ringed in your ears as he leaned forward. You felt his whisper in your ear along with warm breath. “I’m a busy man, a lot work to do.”
It almost sounded funny. Almost, because you knew what his work was like. And, as a messenger of God, you shouldn’t be accepting his company. But the Earth was neutral ground. Here he wasn’t a demon and you weren’t an angel. He was Arthur and you were ___________ .
Nothing more and nothing less.
“I know, I know. I’m glad you came.”
“I wouldn’t dare to miss the opportunity to see you.”
He kissed you with the taste of the drink still on his lips. You gave in without a word. Such a small moment you two were getting. You didn’t want to waste any second of it.

It was a simple story of the forbidden love. You both lived so long that it was hard to tell when was the first time he caught your attention. Was it back then during the Hundred Years War when he was disguised as an Englishman archer? Or maybe during Napoleonic wars? It could be even that ball in Venice or that feast in Rome… So many possibilities that didn’t matter anymore. Not since you two started to make out.
Of course it was a secret and if someone would find out you and Arthur would be in great troubles. Or at least you would be. Becoming a fallen angel wasn’t a thing you wanted to endure. And as for Arthur… Saying that king of hell and his subordinates didn’t like demons making out with their enemies was enough.
But you were together for so long that you started to forget the danger. It was more than a  two hundred years and you weren’t caught yet.
Maybe that’s why you became a little too careless?

His green, poisonous eyes were hypnotizing and it was easy to get lost in them. They were so  much different from the eyes of angels, usually bright and full of light. Arthur’s were more… Dangerous and they were having that sparkle you loved so much. They were perfect match for his red, messy hair.
“You’re surprisingly silent.” He noted.
You blushed a little. It was hard not to as you were caught on staring at him so obviously.
”I was just thinking…”
“About what, darling?”
“N-nothing in particular.” You stammered, trying to think of a good excuse. It was even more embarrassing but Arthur just chuckled.
“I’m not nothing, luv.” He said smiling charmingly.
You had to agree on that. He was something. You knew this from the moment your eyes have met for the first time. Back then you were send to the place called Gomorrah to find ten honest men. Instead you found him and Dear Lord he wasn’t honest. You still could bring back from your memories the image of him lying on the carpet dressed mostly in gold with only a little piece of fabric hiding his vital spot.
On the second thought as an angel you probably shouldn’t think of things like that.
Lord forgive me but  he was making a great impression  And I still think gold suits him well.
“Of course you’re not.” You answered, giving him a mischievous smile. Or at least you tried to do so. As an angel you weren’t used to this kind of mimic. That’s why it often looked wrong or just sheer funny. And Arthur always pointed that out. He wasn’t even trying to hide his laughter. You felt that your cheeks became even redder.
“Oh, stop it!
“I don’t intent to.”
There was an obvious playfulness in his voice. You liked this but sometimes you could swear that it was hard not to hit his head when he was making fun of you. But of course you were an angel. Violent was a no-no.
And the fact that some of the angels were having big, shiny swords with them didn’t change a thing. You weren’t that kind of angel.
“You want to hit me?” He asked suddenly, playing with a glass in his hand.
This time he decided to show you the taste of wine. Unfortunately as always angel’s body refused to like anything that had alcohol in it. Another no-no on a long list of heaven no-no’s.
“You know I can’t.”
“You didn’t even try.” He sighed, rolling his eyes. It was hard for him to understand that you just couldn’t do this. Actually there were many thing he didn’t understand about you and vice-versa. Probably the differences between angels and demons mentality.
“I’m not a warrior, my deepest apologies for disappointing you.”
“There’s nothing to be sorry about. After all I can be your warrior.” A wide grin appeared on his face. Now it was your turn to rolled eyes.
“You’re not that kind of type, are you?”
“No, not really. But I can do this especially for you,  ___________ .”
Something in his voice caught your attention. You could swear that for a moment he was serious about what he just said but few second later the sight of seriousness on his face was gone. Yet you were sure it wasn’t just flicker of your imagination.
“Arthur, I…” You started but then went silent as your eyes spotted something in the distance.
The man was just entering the restaurant. He was wearing a grey coat with the big collar almost hiding his face entirely. Yet for a moment you were able to catch a glance of it.
And then you felt a cold shudder going throughout your body. Arthur have noticed this change immediately.
“___________ ?”
“We have to go.” That was all you could say as your throat suddenly felt dry.
Also that was all you need to say. You both slowly stand up, getting ready to leave the place. But before you could do it a gray smudge appeared just behind red-haired demon.
Arthur was slim but not weak and he proved that quickly. His speed was unmatched and angel’s sword missed. In return, five blood-red lines appeared on a beautiful angel’s face.
“I think you look better with them, lad.” He teased, dodging another attack.
You looked at this with your eyes wide open. It shouldn’t be like that! They shouldn’t find out! But now it was to late. You looked at the warrior angel raising his sword again.
“Arthur!” You screamed and he looked towards you nodding probably to calm you down.
His tail wrapped around angel’s wrist, as his claws ran over holy creature’s eyes. In that moment you saw another one just behind red-haired demon. Without thinking you did the first thing that came to your mind – grabbed the bottle of wine that was standing on the table and smashed in on the angel’s head. You didn’t have any better weapon. The noise you made brought Arthur’s attention to you. He looked down at the second angel and wide grin appeared on his face.
“Not bad, my sweet angel. Now I know you can.”
“We have to escape, even more of them will be coming soon!”
You knew there was no time for jokes but for some reason you felt irrationally proud hearing his admiration.
“I know, I know, luv.” He answered grabbing your hand.
In the next moment you were both flying away pair of white as snow and black as coal wings high in the sky. People couldn’t see you but you both knew, that for angels and demons alike you’re easy targets. That’s why you have to hide. And then…
And then… Maybe you would be able to wake up from this nightmare.

“It’s reality.”
“I know.”
You both were hiding in the cave, high up in the mountains. It was hard to say how long did it take to get there but you both knew it was just a short stop. If you wanted to escape you had to be moving all time for eternity. And that was impossible but neither you nor Arthur has spoken of it loud.
The sun was just coming down to the horizon throughout the orange sky. In the distance you could see the forest and a small, quiet village with people living their peaceful lives. If only you could do the same… If only…
“If we could only stay like this forever…” You whispered quietly, looking at the sunset. Arthur sighed and wrapped his arms around your waist.
“We always knew there is no happy ending for us, didn’t we?” He asked rhetorically.
He was right. For an angel and a demon to be together. It was impossible, it was not… Correct. Something like that never happened. Even in fairytales. Princes married princesses. Kings found their love among commoners. A beautiful ladies kissed a frog, breaking the charm and living happily ever after with the enchanted princes. But all of them were humans. There was nothing about creatures from heaven or hell.
Your eyes widened.
Of course.
“No. There’s always a way.”

When you were still a young angel you thought that the God’s garden is the most beautiful place in the whole universe. Many ages has passed since then but the garden was still making a great impression on you. Especially now, when you were standing near to it’s tall walls feeling like a trespasser just by looking at the tree tops, each one with different kind of leafs. One were big and shaped like your hand, other small and more round. There were green ones as well as yellow, brown, orange and red. Some of the trees had fruits, some flowers, other had small, dark needles rough in touch. But only one of them was important to you. The tallest of them all, standing out as clearly as sun on the blue sky. And there was only one fruit on it.
The forbidden fruit.
Some humans believed it was an apple but they were mistaken. Forbidden fruit was nothing like you could see on earth. It was something entirely different and only God was allowed to touch it. Angels were forbidden to even look at it. But the God’s orders didn’t matter anymore. You needed this fruit.
You both needed it desperately.
The plan was risky but there was nothing to lose. All you had to do was to get in other way than through high, black gate protected by an archangel.
Well… Sounds easy enough.

Arthur looked at the stains of the blood under your feet. Red liquid was dripping slowly from your wounds, painting gray concrete. There was a glimpse of worry in his eyes and anger as well. You would be able to see him gritting his teeth if only the world around wasn’t so hazy. It was hard for you to stand and your once proud, white wings looked like mess.
“I shouldn’t allowed you to do this.” He said frowning, his hands finding their way to hold you.
“There was no other way, right?” You responded with a faint smile.
Your blood were all over his usually neat and tidy black uniform. A strange thought appeared in your mind just how well it matched his hair.
Red as blood…
You also noticed some of your white feathers dancing around you as your wings was growing weaker and weaker. You didn’t feel them anymore and by the look Arthur gave them, you could tell they have been broken and bend in unnatural directions. But you didn’t mind. The pain might have been great but the reward was more important.
“I have it.” You murmured as he leaned forward to slowly kiss your lips.
There was some blood on your face but he cleaned it gently with his index finger.
“Shhh, we have some time left, right ___________ ?”
He kneeled with you still in his arms. His hand brushed through your hair. You couldn’t help but smile even though you were in a great anguish.
“You’re too nice to be Arthur. Where is he? What have you done to him?”
“Oh, you don’t have to worry, he’s right here, luv. Just say a word and you will have him back.”  His black tail dabbed your cheek, as you realized it might be your last moment feeling it. “Though I have to stay… For now you may enjoy the nicer version of him. Think of it as gratitude for all you have done. He’s very proud of you.”
The last sentence was whispered in your ear. Pair of dark, bat-like wings hidden you for a moment, when he gave you one last passionate kiss, long and deep. It felt just like back then when you decided to start all of this. A perfect ending for a tragic love between an angel and a demon.
“Shall we do this together?” He asked quietly and you nodded, slowly raising a hand in which you were holding the forbidden fruit.
There was no hesitation when you both bitten it in exactly the same moment.

It was hard to tell why he loved places like that but on the other hand… Maybe that was in his nature? There was no longer a bloody mary in his hand as his hair was red no more. Instead he was sipping tea and you were enjoying it along with him. He was not very found of coffee but at least you could share a slice of a cake in a café. Clubs were still an option but you preferred them at night.
“So this is what happened when you trespasses God’s law. Not really a punishment, mind you.” He said, English accent even stronger since he became a human.
His hair was now old gold colour and eyes were more emerald than poisonous green, but you could still notice the same sparkle in them. The one that you loved so much. He was still your precious demon, only now without black horns, wings and tail.
“For most of the angels this is the worst punishment there is.” You answered, smiling gently. Your fingers touched the warm teacup as you slowly raised it to your mouth. “But I can’t complaint.”
“Neither can I.” He admitted, returning the smile. He became a little more serious, but you have changed as well. “It’s not so bad since you’re still with me.”
“And you’re always on time. That’s a nice change.” You said grinning. In response Arthur rolled his eyes.
“Why thank you. I’m glad this important part of our relationship hasn’t escaped your memory.”
“At least now we’re seeing each other much more often. And… I’m just hoping you’re not going to change your job again, Arthur.”
“I-it wasn’t my fault.” He said quickly, his face becoming as red as once was his hair. You could swear you have exchanged your attitudes. When you were an angel it was your job to blush often. But it wasn’t bad at all. No. To say the truth it was cute and adorable in some kind of way.
“Oh, really?” You allowed yourself to say “ea” long enough for him to became even redder.
“They just didn’t appreciate my view on history.”
“No one will appreciate a demon’s view on human history. At least humans won’t.”
“Tch, my students liked it!”
Little argues like that became part of your reality. They were sweet and innocent, also it was hard no to take advantage of Arthur’s new character traits. Of course you needed some time to adjust to your new life but it didn’t take too long. Now you were having a small flat and both of you were working hard to afford it. Well… At least you were. Arthur was still looking for a job suitable for an ex-demon.
“Unfortunately their not the one to give you the job.” You sighed. “What am I going to do! My boyfriend is not even able to work as a teacher!”
Arthur grimaced and you couldn’t help but laugh. The red face was a perfect compliment to his green eyes and golden hair. You leaned towards him, pushing a few strands from his sight and kissing him to make up for the jokes.
You always knew that gold will suit him better.
“I know you’ll find a new one.”
“I promise I will.”
“Good, just… Don’t write in your CV what you were doing up until now.”
He raised his eyebrows and grinned.
“Oh? So you think, that mentioning torturing the souls in hell is not a good idea?”
“No, not really, Arthie.” You smiled back.
“Then I won’t do this. By the way…”
“Yes?” You tilted your head a little.
“I love you, ___________ .”
“I love you too, Arthur.”
Sometimes you both felt a little strange in your new roles. Yet that feeling was getting weaker and weaker every passing month. You both knew that it wouldn’t take long for you to change entirely, angelic and demonic aspects of your nature disappearing completely. You didn’t mind. The tragic love of the two supernatural beings has ended, but the simple and happy story of two humans has just began.
Heeeello again! It was a long break but it wasn’t my fault! Well at least not entirely my fault!
:iconamericasulkplz:

I was really busy with my studies and right now I’m getting ready to move to Spain on monday for a half year. That’s why it was hard to write anything at all. But worry not! I just finished my exams and if you’re still liking my stories, I’m going to work hard on them! I can only hope that the break didn't take it's tool on the quality of my writting ;-;

This one is for the contest made by :iconmiabia100: I can only hope I get Love-Love theme right. I tried! I really did! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to finish my work for other contests in time D: As for my other stories – the one with Angel!Ivan, its almost done and I’m working on Entertainment as well!

As always – I’m not native English speaker so mistakes may be inevitable. If you spot them – please tell me! I’m trying to improve my language skills after all!

Even more Demon!England from me. I’m so monothematic.
:iconamericaohgodplz:

And for some reason I want so much to write some prequels for this story. Historic times are always a great setting.

England (Arthur Kirkland) belongs to Himaruya.
Sweet Devil belongs to Fans.
I’m sorry for all You in this world for this blasphemy.
